If I did this right this is the first team blog and everyone should have been friended, or added.... Or something. And I'm also going to assume you can see this too... Well here it goes!
We had a great turn out at cokes n' clubs. We also had a great time at our informational meeting!
For all those who decided to join the team and show, we had our eval ride and pizza with Kris and Chelsea, our lovely coaches, on September 26th.
We got in some quick lessons over the next week to prepare for the first show one the 6th of October.
That Sunday morning we met at the commons annex ATM at 5 (early) 30 in the morning! And packed 12 girls in the 12 passenger van and drove the 2 hr to Albion. We got lost (as usual trying to find that barn) but we still made it right on time. Lucky the show was inside because it rained ALL DAY!
We had a little scare with the horse draw and course walk order but it all worked out. Our two jumpers got 5th and 1st!!
After lunch (of sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls) we all got ready for our flat classes. The two jumping girls were the first to go after lunch as they are the highest level riders on our team (at novice). We could see that our coach kris had picked Anna who got 1st as our point rider for the jumping, so we were excited to see if she had also been pick as point rider for flat. If she were to get 1st and she was the point rider she could be a contender for high point rider of the show.
Both of our novice girls did great on their flat!!!! And Anna ended up in a ride off against three other riders, some of which were from a higher level than her. She placed 2nd in the ride off making her reserve high point of the show!
The rest of our girls also did amazing!! The total ribbons the team took in was amazing for our first show!! Total: 3-5th places, 3-4ths, 2-3rds, 2-1sts, and one reserve high point ribbon!! (See photo)
This coming weekend is another show!
In other matters, we are looking into a place to volunteer this year so we will have more info coming.
And we have also partnered with the men's volleyball team so we will be going to their games to support them and, if we are lucky, some "dates."
